The discipline of Public Affairs Management (PAM) at Northeastern University was founded in 1998. It is the one of two universities to set up the Public affairs management program in China (the other is Yunnan University). In 2000, this discipline has become the one of 24 pilot units in national MPA education. In 2005, it obtained the accreditation of PHD conferment. Moreover, The post-doctoral research center of PAM was approved and set up at Northeastern University in 2007.

There are five academic staffs that include 3 professors, 1 associate professor and 1 assistant professor. Each of them is qualified a PHD degree and has the overseas experiences. Moreover, one of them was named the ‘Excellent Teacher’ in the ordinary institution of higher education at Liaoning province. One of them was honored ‘the Middle-Age Academia in Philosophy’ in Liaoning province. One of them was participated the ‘Bai-Qian-Wan’ human resource project at Qian Level. Moreover, one of them is honored as the ‘Excellent Teacher’ in Shenyang city, 2 of them granted the ‘Jiang-He’ foundation and 1 of them granted the ‘Zhang Jie Qian’ foundation.

The discipline of PAM at Northeastern university is the national first class features professional, and national personnel training mode innovation experimental area. Basing on these, the discipline has accumulated lots of outcomes of research achievements such as completing the projects of Social science and nature science as many as more than 50. It published more than 10 textbooks, 20 books during the ’10-5’,’11-5’,’12-5’ periods and won the national excellent teaching achievement first prize, second prize, 2 of the subjects has been honored as the ‘Good Class’ at national level. 1 of the subject was listed as ‘High Quality Public Video Class’ in China. And they also published 2 textbooks at national level.

The characteristic of this discipline is with the developing of science and technology policy and technology for the main professional management, community management, cultural management. This discipline is adhering to the research development, reform and promoting development of the professional construction idea. It always adheres to the educational standards of having both ability and political integrity, constantly optimize teaching resources, innovative management mechanism. Thus, it has become a leader to promote and guide the similar colleges and universities in the quality, standard and sustainable development of the major professional brand.

The employment rate of graduates is stably at more than 95% per year. They are mainly distributed in the sectors such as culture and education, sports, health, environmental protection, social intermediary organizations, enterprises and other fields, is engaged in the education, scientific research, public service, etc.
